What is HHC?
HHC (hexahydrocannabinol) is a hydrogenated form of THC. It's created by adding hydrogen molecules to THC through a chemical process. HHC produces psychoactive effects similar to Delta-9 THC but is slightly less potent. It gained popularity as an alternative in states that banned Delta-8.
Federal Status
HHC is hydrogenated THC produced by a chemical process, not a naturally occurring THC isomer. Section 781 of the 2026 law excludes cannabinoids synthesized or manufactured outside the plant and reaches compounds with similar intoxicating effects — so HHC becomes a federally controlled substance on November 12, 2026.
